Why just a few insurance plans? We have partnered with The Lactation Network and WIldFlower to help process insurance claims. They are always working towards establishing relationships with more insurance providers and we will update our website if and when they are able to do that. We are currently working on partnering with Tricare. Stay tuned for updates.

What happens at a consult? All of our consults will include gathering information about your previous breastfeeding experience and your breastfeeding goals. We will then discuss any issues that you are experiencing and work towards resolving them. Once we have your baby comfortably latched and nursing, we will together develop a plan to help you achieve your goals. During initial consults and any consult where a parent is concerned about weight gain or supply issues, we will do a pre/post weight. This helps tell us how much milk was transferred during the nursing session and will help develop a more personalized plan for you and your baby.

Will we need more than 1 consult? This question is always hard to answer. Sometimes we can solve an issue in one visit with no need for a follow-up. We always stress that every baby is different and every nursing experience is different. We will work with you to solve issues and create a plan that works within your lifestyle and your goals. Clients that have prior authorization from their insurance provider have 7 visits available to them at no cost and can be used at any point during their breastfeeding journey. In this scenario, we generally recommend that we have at least 1 follow-up to ensure that all issues have been resolved. We do generally require that all in-person visits have a telehealth visit follow-up. We like to schedule these within 48-72 hours after the consult. This is included in the cost of consults for clients paying out of pocket. When, together, we decide that a follow-up is not needed, we will still check in on you to ensure that no further issues have arisen. We understand that questions always come up after we leave so we urge all our clients to text us as they think of questions and concerns.

Virtual Lactation Appointment...but how?Breastfeeding comes with so many questions, each with what seems like a thousand answers. That is where virtual appointments can be so helpful. We are able to ask questions to determine your specific circumstances and then give you a solution that is geared specifically to you and your baby. For new moms we are able to assess latch, determine if further investigation is required for a tongue or lip tie, help with position, and most other aspects of an initial consultation. For moms that have questions about supply, pumping, returning to work, relactation, biting, weaning, and any other question that arises are able to help you with evidenced-based information that is individualized to your specific circumstances and then check in and adjust the plan as needed all from the comfort of your home. For insurance-eligible clients, coverage is the same as our in-patient clients with 7 appointments pre-approved for coverage. For clients that are paying out of pocket, we have single appointments for $75 or a package that includes 3 visits for $180.
